在目前廣泛應用的幾種快速成型工藝方法中,唯有SLS方法可直接燒結制作金屬材質的原型,這是SLS工藝的獨特優點。

從原理上說,這種方法可采用加熱時粘度降低的任何粉末材料,通過材料或各類含粘結劑的涂層顆粒制造出任何造型,適應不同的需要。
In principle, this method can use any powder material with reduced viscosity during heating to produce any shape through materials or various coating particles containing binder to meet different needs.

The manufacturing process of selective laser sintering rapid prototyping is relatively simple
由于可用多種材料,選擇性激光燒結工藝按采用的原料不同可以直接生產復雜形狀的原型、型腔模三維構件或部件及工具。例如,制造概念原型,可安裝為產品模型的概念原型,蠟模鑄造模型及其它少量母模,直接制造金屬注塑模等。
Due to the availability of a variety of materials, the selective laser sintering process can directly produce three-dimensional components or parts and tools of prototype and cavity mold with complex shapes according to different raw materials. For example, manufacturing conceptual prototypes can be installed as conceptual prototypes of product models, wax mold casting models and a small number of other master molds, and directly manufacturing metal injection molds.

Selective laser sintering rapid prototyping process does not need support structure
和LOM工藝一樣,SLS工藝也無需設計和需要支撐結構,疊層過程中出現的懸空層面可直接由未燒結的粉末來實現支撐。
Like LOM Process, SLS process does not need to design and support structure, and the suspended layer in the lamination process can be directly supported by unsintered powder.
選擇性激光燒結快速成型工藝材料利用率高
Selective laser sintering rapid prototyping process has high material utilization
由于SLS工藝過程不需要支撐結構,也不象LOM工藝那樣出現許多工藝廢料,也不需要制作基底支撐,所以該工藝方法在常見的幾種快速原型工藝中材料利用率是高的,材料的利用率基本可以認為是100%。SLS工藝中的多數粉末的較便宜,所以SLS模型的成本相比較來看也是較低的。
Because the SLS process does not need support structure, nor does it have many process wastes like LOM Process, nor does it need to make substrate support, the material utilization rate of this process method is high in several common rapid prototyping processes, and the material utilization rate can be considered as 100%. Most powders in SLS process are cheaper, so the cost of SLS model is also lower.

選擇性激光燒結快速成型工藝原型表面粗糙
Surface roughness of prototype in selective laser sintering rapid prototyping process
由于SLS工藝的原材料是粉狀的,原型的建造是由材料粉層經過加熱熔化而實現逐層粘接的,因此,原型表面嚴格講是粉粒狀的,因而表面質量不高。
Since the raw materials of SLS process are powdery and the prototype is built by heating and melting the material powder layer to realize layer by layer bonding, the prototype surface is strictly powdery, so the surface quality is not high.
選擇性激光燒結快速成型工藝燒結過程揮發異味
Selective laser sintering rapid prototyping process volatile odor in sintering process
SLS工藝中的粉層粘接是需要激光能源使其加熱而達到熔化狀態,高分子材料或者粉粒在激光燒結熔化時一般要揮發異味氣體。
The powder layer bonding in SLS process requires laser energy to heat it to reach the melting state. Polymer materials or powder particles generally volatilize peculiar smell gas during laser sintering and melting.
